What is type 1 diabetes?

Diabetes is one of the most common and talked about illnesses. There is no stigma attached to having diabetes. There are no obvious, outward symptoms of diabetes. You are still able to carry on with most professions whilst living with diabetes.

There is no blame culture surrounding people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes (like, for example, alcoholism or obesity sufferers). So when suffering with signs of diabetes, you should visit your doctor’s surgery as soon as possible. Both diabetes type 1 and diabetes type 2 can be controlled relatively easily with the guidance of your GP.

Controlling diabetes type 1

Whether you are dealing with juvenile diabetes, gestational diabetes or type i diabetes, you need to be armed with as much information and medical help as possible. Type i diabetes is controllable and you can still manage your life in the same way as pre diagnosis.

Diet and type 1 diabetes

Medical research is developing each year and whilst there is not a lot of information available, it is thought that diet may be a contributing factor to the development of type 1 diabetes and can play an important part of the post diagnosis part of type 1 diabetes.

Juvenile diabetes and diabetes type 1

Juvenile diabetes and type i diabetes are fundamentally the same thing. Because type i diabetes normally presents itself in children, young adults and teenagers, the illness was called juvenile diabetes. The illness is not just contained in the younger population though, so the name was misleading. It is more commonly called type 1 diabetes or type i diabetes.

Getting a diagnosis for diabetes type 1

Doctors have a lot of information available with regards symptoms, genetic issues, diet, alleviating symptoms and how to accurately diagnose diabetes. It is one of the easiest illnesses for doctors to spot and test for.
